Premier Brian Pallister is following up on a promise to build a school in the Wheat City.

The new school – named Maryland Park – is scheduled to be open in the Fall of 2020.

Brian Pallister was quoted today saying that the new school was to accommodate the growth of Brandon during the last twenty years.  He also thanked the City of Brandon and the Brandon School Division for their involvement.

The cost of Maryland Park School is $24.1 million and will hold 450 students.

Maryland Park is one of seven schools the provincial government is building throughout Manitoba.

 

Annual Pet License

It may be time for your furry friend to be licensed by the City of Brandon.

Residents are asked to have their pet dog or cat permitted by the City of Brandon’s Finance Department.

Animal Control By-Law 5900 states that all pets must be licensed whether if they’re considered an indoor pet or not.

Unlicensed pets can result in a fine of $100.  If it’s caught by Animal Control, the owner will be charged with impound fines.

There is no license fee if the animal is under six months of age.

Pets can be licensed at any day of the year.
