In this blog, we will discuss one atomized technology, named motion-scan technology which mainly use to record the facial expression in digital form. Motion-scan technology is the advanced version of motion-capture technology because it works more accurately and able to recognize more facial expression rather than motion-capture. With the help of motion-scan, it’s easy to animate the character more authentically. Usually, motion-scan technology is the expert version of motion capture technology, which is mainly used by video game designers. For the game designer, this method is more suitable rather than motion-capture because motion-capture technology often less sharpens then this one. Additionally, we can collect about 250,000 facial expression and body language data.
Importantly, you may remember the motion-capture process when you have ever watched the shooting of different Hollywood movies such as Avatar, The Lord of the Rings, and many others at where actors perform with green screen, wearing a suit covered with small reflective markers. Those markers are the heart of it that can be tracked by cameras and record the movement of the actor. Moreover, by advanced software animator convert the recorded data into a digital skeleton, perform same as an actor. Mainly, it can create a 3D image on every take by recording from different angles with the help of 32 high-definition cameras which are used by NASA to record space shuttle launches. These cameras work up to 30fps. Which required around 1GB space per second. Apart from that, it required a lot of time to set up. The technician takes around 3 days to set up more than 1000 pieces of gears. Furthermore, 16 pairs of cameras which are cover the facial expression and 33 cameras for overall recording. These cameras can collect the data from the different perspective, which helps the animator to use particular angle for the specific scene. This technology is more suitable for 3D animation as well as movies because this technology provides a more accurate result and also work with a different angle and gives 3D data.
